A REESE'S BOOK CLUB PICK

A #1 New York Times bestseller, Wall Street Journal Best Book of the Year, and soon to be a major motion picture, this unforgettable novel of love and strength in the face of war has enthralled a generation.

With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Powerful, gripping, and insightful. I cannot imagine living through such a time in history. The emotional turmoil this book had me in, but that is Kristin Hannah for you. Even though it is a work of fiction there are very true elements and the realization that life was once like that for people is difficult to think about. The courageous and fearless characters in the story are just heroic. I really enjoyed this book and frankly all of Kristin’s works I have read thus far.

By far, hands down, without a doubt the BEST book I have ever read. I could not put it down! You can't read this and not keep turning the page with suspicion of what is coming next, or simply needing to know. Two of the strongest characters I've ever read about. And historical, which is my favorite genre. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the war through women's eyes, and non-Jews at that, and what it costs everyone, even the innocent civilians that lived in Nazi occupied areas. If you are thinking about reading this book, stop thinking and just do it!

This book is so humbling to me, showed alot of darkness in this time era how a man had such power especially in the world war 2¹. It Life right now (for me) may not be as bad as the helocust but, we do it to our own self. This book I took a daily look at how I had it when i was reading it,now and the future. Forever grateful.
