About this ebook

The Bible says emphatically that "without holiness, no man can see the Lord". But what is holiness in the end? It is a gift of God, or the work of man? Why is holiness necessary to eternal life if we are saved by grace alone through faith alone and in Christ alone? Well, Puritan Thomas Brooks unfolds the biblical truth that holiness, real and practical holiness, always accompanies salvation, and that to the end of a true believer's life. He explains and shows the need, the excellency, and the reasons for holiness.

He paints then the portrait of a holy man and adds a number of means and helps to holiness, while at the same time giving biblical consolations to those Christians who may be burdened of their little, yet evident holiness.

This book has been originally published in 1660. The current edition has been proofread, typeset for eBook readers, and slightly updated for modern readers.
