There's magic in the meeting of water and land—a convergence of worlds where stories are born, carried on sea spray, and whispered through foghorns. This novel is my invitation to you, dear reader, to experience a day by the harbor through both words and music.
"Harbor Reflections" began as a collection of instrumental compositions, each capturing a distinct moment from dawn to dusk along the waterfront. As I composed these smooth soul melodies, I found myself visualizing characters, conversations, and moments that existed beyond the notes. The music gave birth to this narrative, and now they exist as companions—each enriching the other.
For the complete "Harbor Reflections" experience, I encourage you to read each chapter while listening to its corresponding track from the album. Each composition has been crafted to evoke the emotional landscape of its chapter, creating an immersive journey through sight, sound, and imagination.
The complete "Harbor Reflections" album is available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and at bysscott.bandcamp.com. You'll also find the audiobook version as the final track on the album, completing the circle between literature and music.
This is more than a book or an album—it's an invitation to slow down, to feel the coastal breeze on your face, to watch the play of light on water, and to discover the stories that unfold in those in-between spaces where land meets sea, where past meets present, and where strangers become friends.
Welcome to the harbor.

I, Stanley Scott Jr. am San Francisco/Oakland-based photographer, composer, and author whose work explores the intersection of jazz, soul, and storytelling. After earning certifications in information technology and addiction treatment I have dedicated my career to creating multimedia experiences that bridge different art forms.
My instrumentals compositions have been featured in novel soundtracks, commercials, and background music for social media posts around the world. "Harbor Reflections" is my 30th novel, expanding on the themes of my wonderful instrumental album of the same name.
When not composing or writing, I can often be found walking the Oakland waterfront at dawn with my camera, contributing to the community by photo journaling, education programs, or driving my 1987 GMC Caballero truck named "In God We Trust” on the bay.
