Breshna is a young girl in Afghanistan. Because her family is poor, she has to help her mother with work to earn money, although what she really longs to do is go to school. One day, she is offered the chance to attend a private school with a scholarship. Will her life finally change for the better?

The story of Breshna brings readers into a world they might know little about. Shakila Jawaid was born in Afghanistan. She holds a master’s degree in International Relations and is the former head of the cultural center of a high school for girls in Kabul. The author of many short stories published both in Afghanistan and around the world, she currently resides in Ankara, Turkey, where she enjoys reading and writing.
