About this audiobook

Conversations draws you deeper into the life story of someone you may, or may not, have heard about – someone who has seen and done amazing things. This compilation features a selection of seven of the best interviews from the program: Richard E Grant explores the influence of the late love of his life, his wife Joan Washington, their adventures and the final message she left him. Deborah Lawrie had her first flying lesson at 16, but when she applied to Ansett for a job as a pilot, she found herself in the fight of her life. Kate Legge uncovered four generations of cheating, leading her to ask the question: is there a cheating gene? Ben Graetz was born and raised in Darwin and is a descendant of the Iwaidja and Malak Malak Clans, and the people of Badu Island. Ben is an arts industry professional and acclaimed drag performer. Gillian Bell an international wedding cake baker, discusses the power of cake and how it has propelled her through immigration, a career in social work and a dangerous and secret trip. Diana Nguyen had a love affair with the arts that fractured her relationship with her mother, who had escaped Vietnam by boat and wanted her eldest daughter to be 'more' than a performer. Kelvin Kong is a proud Worimi man at the forefront of medical innovation, continuing a family legacy of caring for community.

Sarah Kanowski studied English at the University of Oxford, where she wrote a thesis on the Mosley family. Sarah then spent a year in South America before settling back in Australia. In Hobart she edited the literary magazine Island, until sun and grandparents beckoned her back to Brisbane where she now lives with her husband and three young children. She presented Books and Arts on ABC RN and looked after Conversations when Richard Fidler was away.

Richard E. Grant is in no way related to Hugh Grant! Though they are quite good friends. Born and raised in Swaziland, Richard E. Grant wears a watch on both wrists. One belongs to his late father and is set to Swaziland time. Richard studied drama at Cape Town University where he co-founded the Troupe Theatre Company. He moved to London in 1982 and worked in theatre until he got his big break with the cult hit "Withnail and I" in 1986. Since then, Richard has appeared in over 60 movies, with some of Hollywood's leading directors and actors. He's also written two books, and appeared in many theatre productions. He's married to dialect coach Joan Washington and they live together in London with their daughter Olivia.
