About this audiobook

This book from the world-renowned mayo clinic offers an update on what experts know about alzheimer’s and related dementias, including the latest research into treatment and prevention, ways to live well with dementia, and recommendations for caregivers. While alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, many related types also affect adults worldwide, causing loss of memory, reason, judgment, and other cognitive functions.

Although the diseases that cause dementia have long been considered unrelenting and incurable, recent advances offer hope.

You’ll discover inside this comprehensive handbook:

•                  The step-by-step approach to managing alzheimer's at every stage, from early diagnosis to late-stage care.

•                  Practical strategies to handle common behavioral changes, such as aggression, confusion, and wandering.

•                  Insights into early signs and progression speed to help you prepare for each step of the journey.

•                  Heartfelt advice for coping with guilt and frustration, nurturing your own emotional well-being.

•                  Mindfulness and relaxation techniques tailored to caregivers.

•                  Guidance on essential legal documents, from durable powers of attorney to advance directives.

If you feel blind-sided, heartbroken, dazed and anxious about what’s ahead as care partner to your loved one with alzheimer’s – you are not alone. And yet, you can do this. You already are. We have been walking this journey alongside our dad, who is in the early stages of alzheimer’s, for the past four plus years.

Now, i want to share with you what we’ve learned from doctors, social workers, support groups, seminars, webinars, therapists and trial by fire, as well as seven steps that you can take today to ensure your journey with your loved one is as practicable and peaceful as possible.

I liked that this book was a straight forward approach on how to handle dementia in a family member, or a friend. I like how the writer included the relationship between a mother & daughter. I felt as if it could be my own mother & I, as we are in this new journey. I liked the SLOW method, speak, listen, observe & wait. It reminds me to constantly pause, before I speak. The book is quite full of great information that I can put to use in our lives.

Best advice and comfort I’ve ever gotten on how to deal with a person dealing with Alzheimer’s. I learned so many practical tips I’ve already put into action. And I’m recommending it to everyone! God bless the author, and I don’t even know him!
