About this audiobook

What could be sexier than British-accented spy?

Put him in a tuxedo and hand him a brandy.

A commoner buried in his work.

A correspondent in over her head.

Fiery and furious, they dig deep into the throes of passion.

The Commoner:

Reporters need to back off. I’ve got a job to do. Being overworked, overwhelmed, and underappreciated, the last thing this M15 agent needs is a sexy and incredibly persuasive journalist knocking me off my game. But the terror in her eyes tells me she needs me - in more ways than one.

The Correspondent:

The byline of a lifetime. Every reporter wants to unearth the biggest news story to hit the globe. And I’m close - so close. But when a body is left on my floor with a note, “You’re next”! I know I’m in over my head. Can this correspondent let down her guard and let the commoner take over?

Beautiful childhood friends-to-lovers romantic suspense Axel, code name Pinch, is infuriated by the journalist that just won’t leave him to his investigations. Only after she comes to him for help, he realizes she’s the same girl he knew growing up and, not coincidentally, the best friend of his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Darrow. Esland has no intention of poaching her best friend’s man, even if they’re really over for good. But he’s the only one who can help her figure out who’s trying to kill her, and he’s the only one whose overprotective nature calls to something deep inside her heart. This is an exciting, fast-paced romance that uncovers secret after secret as it brings out the best in both Axel and Esland. The character development is outstanding, the tricky situation was handled deftly and realistically, and the payoff at the end was exquisite. I wish we’d had a bit more closure to the Westbrook storyline, but that’s a small matter. I love all the books in this series, but this one is perhaps the sweetest, most romantic one so far. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars received from BookSprout The Commoner and the Correspondent is book 3 in the Royal Agents of MI6 by Heather Slade and she has filled the book with suspense, intrigue and steamy romance! Esland “Ezzie” and Darrow have been childhood best friends and were always around Darrow’s brothers and Axel the groundskeeper’s son. Esland has always had feelings for Axel “Pinch”, but Darrow and he were an on again-off again relationship. Now Darrow and Pinch have finally called it quits and are moving on...Darrow has told Esland if she ever finds herself in any trouble she can trust Pinch to help her. Esland, a reporter for the Times finds herself in big trouble and goes to Pinch for help...what happens next will keep you on the edge of your seat and pulling for Ezzie and Pinch to figure out the mess and find out that sometimes love is right in front of you but you just don’t see it! Diaries from her mother, doping, sexual abuse, family trust fund, kidnapping, twists, turns, suspense and a crooked MI 6 agent all rolled into another great book by Heather Slade. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!! Ebook

Pinch and Darrow have finally split for good - they had more off time than on if they're honest. Was it a case of Darrow sleeping with the "help" as her mother keeps suggesting or did she really love Pinch? As Axel and Esland's story unfolded I found myself not liking Darrow very much - a shame as her book is next and it's kind of put me on the back foot. Esland and Darrow are supposed to be friends but at times Darrow's treatment of Essie is more like frenemy. Darrow told Essie she could trust Axel so when she gets into a pickle she turns to him for help and promptly gets turfed out of the pub! However, after the miscommunication is sorted out Axel and Essie have a complicated case to be solved involving corruption and child exploitation. Essie has some layers to her and I found myself really bonding with her. She has lots of family secrets to unwrap and some dodgy relatives to uncover!
