About this audiobook

What is sexier than a rough and rugged billionaire cowboy?

Team him up with a badass British spy who's also a duchess.

A rancher hellbent on maintaining the status quo.

A lady who detests the elite.

Wild and wanton, opposites attract.

The Rancher

Long, hot days, working my ass off - just waiting for the cool nights to come - so I can kick back and enjoy the starry night. That’s what I do and who I am. Letting go of the passionate and determined lady seems unimaginable. With fire and heat, she can’t be tamed. She belongs elsewhere. It’s a truth I have to accept.

The Lady

Debutante, elite, aristocrat - they’re all words that mean nothing. I need more. I need power, passion, adventure, and danger. Being a part of Her Majesty’s Secret Service is the only answer, my only dream, to end this nightmare of boredom. But walking away from him, the rugged and rough rancher who stole my heart, is more terrifying than anything. Can a lady have a bit of both worlds without everything crumbling down?

Quint and Darro have been on the boil for a while now - their story has overlapped with the other books in the series at times so you see the same story from different viewpoints. Quint and Darrow are true opposites - he loves his ranch and doesn't want to be involved in all the intrigue his family has found themselves involved in. Darrow is finally making decisions for herself and she is determined to be the next Spy in her family. Darrow thankfully redeems herself in this story. She finally drops the woe is me I'm so hard done by persona and actually grabs her life and runs with it. If only she and Quint could figure out how to have the best of both their worlds. Darrow actually becomes the hero several times and I really warmed to her as she became more true to herself and her own goals. I've really enjoyed the series. The only character I never truly warmed to was the Duchess - she was just so much a cold fish. I don't know how anyone gets along with her! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided to me and this is my honest opinion.

I loved this intense love story! We met Quint and Darrow in the earlier books that focused on the romances involving their siblings, but only got a hint of their romance in Book 3. This one gives us their entire story, and as events run concurrently with those of Book 3, with characters crossing over between both, you'll get a better understanding of all the players and situations if you've read Book 3 first. However, each book contains its own couple's romance from start to finish and as such can be read as a standalone. Quint is tied to the ranch that's been in his family for generations, and while Darrow is happy to get some much-needed respite there while visiting her friend, Wren (Quint's sister), she's got bigger dreams that will make staying at Quint's side all but impossible. These two are perhaps my favorite couple of this series, and I really enjoyed the way the author handled the inherent conflicts and big life decisions. The second-half is filled with heart-stopping action and nail-biting suspense as the threat from Axel and Ezzie's story spills over onto the King-Alexander ranch. Darrow is a true heroine, a woman who saves the day not just once but twice, and Quint is the perfect steadfast cowboy who gives her all the support she needs. The HEA is sensitively and beautifully written, neatly coinciding with that of Book 3. Parts of this book serve as updates for the first two books as well, as these characters interact with others in the series and the timelines are all very close and masterfully interwoven. If you love spies and cowboys, you'll get an extra helping of each in this wonderful addition to the series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from BookSprout The Rancher and the Lady is book 4 in the Royal Agents of MI6 by Heather Slade and she has filled the book with suspense, intrigue, laughter, tears, heart pounding action and steamy romance! We saw some of the back story in the Commoner and the Correspondent book (#3) and loved the two parts seeing what happened between Quint and Darrow when she runs of to the United States, Texas to be exact to find out who and what she wants to do with her life and then how the story evolves when she returns back to England months later...determined to become an MI6 agent. Quint sees Darrow [Shadow) for who she really is deep down and will do whatever it takes to help her make her dreams come true...even at the expense of not having her in his life forever! While in training she is pulled to come back to Texas and the ranch to help hide and protect her BFF Esland, who we read about in book 3 from people who want Esland dead. We also get to see some of our favorite characters from the Butler Ranch series too!! Will Shadow finally have her dreams but not the man who makes her whole or is it possible to have both?? Only time will tell...
