Really, really good app! The slow startup speed is fixed now! Both, the desktop and the mobile apps start pretty fast. The only thing to improve, IMO, is the finicky "Send to" Obsidian on Android. It often reloads the app every time it's used, even if I just switched from the app (its battery settings are set to "no restrictions", so it shouldn't be killed). Another killer useful feature on mobile would be a quick note feature!

I've used Obsidian for a couple years. It's a very good note-taking app. Vault (a paid add-on) makes syncing across devices effortless, but other cloud solutions also work. Composing in markdown's fast: your hands never leave the keyboard. It stores notes in markdown, so there's no lock-in: you can open them in a text editor. Once a note is synced to your device, you can reliably get to it even when you're offline. Quirks are in tables (a bit clunky) and the outline (hard to find on phones).

One of the many things I love about Obsidian is that you can go very simple, or tweak it a little bit, or customize the heck out of your knowledge platform and build your perfect workflow. So, you can use it as a simple personal wiki, or build a Zettelkasten, PARA, GTD or any mix of these and more. And the fact that everything is plain text, you can have the peace of mind that you will always have your data, even if somehow this app goes extinct (which is extremely unlikely). Plain AWESOME!

What’s new

- Includes all new functionality and bug fixes up to Obsidian Desktop v1.8.10.
- It is now possible to use the app without giving the "All files" permission, however when doing so you can only store vaults inside the app storage.
- Improved the onboarding flow to make it more clear that Sync is optional and make it easier to jump directly into vault creation.
- Fixed bug where `obsidian://` URIs would not fire their action if the app was previously closed.
