Prof. Dr. Reinhard Noll earned his diploma and doctoral degree in physics from Technische Hochschule Darmstadt (now called Technical University Darmstadt) in 1980 and 1984, respectively. A pioneer in laser technology, he was a member of the founding team of the Fraunhofer-Institut für Lasertechnik (ILT) in 1985. Serving as the head of the laser measurement technology department and later as the competence area manager for measurement technology and EUV sources, as well as member of the management board, he played a pivotal role at Fraunhofer ILT. In 2012, Prof. Noll achieved habilitation at RWTH Aachen University, specializing in Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy. Recognized for his expertise, he received the Venia Legendi for "laser measurement technology for inline process diagnostics" and became an associate professor at RWTH Aachen University in 2017. In 2021, he was honored with the International LIBS Summit Award for "LIBS quantification." Currently, as Head of Research and Development at Laser Analytical Systems & Automation GmbH since 2022, Prof. Noll continues to contribute significantly to the field. With 196 scientific publications, 5 books, and 40 patents/patent applications, he has made enduring contributions. Beyond his academic pursuits, Prof. Noll co-founded two companies in laser measurement technology, serves on the scientific committees of European and international LIBS conferences and is a reviewer for scientific journals in the field of laser measurement technology and laser spectroscopy as well as for R&D projects of the European Union. He is a member of the German Physical Society.
