Peter Alson

Peter Alson is the author of the highly acclaimed memoirs Confessions of an Ivy League Bookie (Crown, 1996) and Take Me to the River (Atria, 2006); and coauthor of One of a Kind (Atria, 2005), a biography of poker champion Stuey Ungar, and Atlas (Ecco, 2005), the autobiography of boxing trainer and commentator Teddy Atlas. His short fiction has been published in Manhattan and the collection He Played For His Wife (Simon and Schuster, 2018).His articles have appeared in numerous national magazines, including Esquire, Rolling Stone and The New York Times. His article for Playboy, entitled "Speed Seduction," was optioned by Arnold Kopelson and Twentieth Century Fox. The Ungar biography, One of a Kind, was optioned by Graham King and Initial Entertainment. And is currently being developed by 3BlackDot. Confessions of an Ivy League Bookie was originally optioned by Fred Zollo and Castle Rock Pictures, later optioned by Mace Neufeld and Paramount Pictures, for whom Alson wrote the screen adaptation. His TV pilot, Nicky's Game, starring John Ventimiglia and Burt Young, was produced by LaSalle-Holland and appeared in the New York Television Festival and the Vail Film Festival. Alson lives in New York with his wife, screen and television writer Alice O'Neill, and their daughter, Eden River.
