Matthew Gregory Lewis

Matthew Gregory Lewis (1775 - 1818) was a British dramatist and novelist in the horror-gothic genre. He was often referred to as "Monk" Lewis due to the popularity of his classic Gothic novel, The Monk. Matthew was the first son of Matthew and Frances Maria Sewell Lewis.
