Jerald Walker

Jerald Walker is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing and former chair in the Department of Writing, Literature and Publishing at Emerson College. He holds an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he was a Teaching/Writing Fellow and James A. Michener Fellow. Walker's first book, Street Shadows: A Memoir of Race, Rebellion, and Redemption (Bantam, 2010), was the recipient of the 2011 PEN New England/L.L. Winship Award for Nonfiction, and named a Best Memoir of the Year by Kirkus Reviews. His creative nonfiction has appeared in numerous magazines and has been widely anthologized, including being selected four times for inclusion The Best American Essays.
