Elisa Mattiello is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Pisa, Italy. Her research focuses on English word-formation and lexicology, with particular attention to neology and the creative mechanisms that are used to coin new words in English. She is the author of over 50 publications and has published extensively in leading journals, including Linguistics, Lingua, Languages in Contrast, Neologica, Lexis, and Discourse, Context & Media,among others. She is also the author of the books An Introduction to English Slang (2008), Extra-grammatical Morphology in English (2013), and Analogy in Word-formation (2017).
