David Horner is one of Australia's leading military historians and is a Senior Fellow at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University. A graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon, who served as an infantry platoon commander in vietnam, Colonel Horner is the author and editor of some twenty books on Australian military history, defence and strategy. Dr Horner has been researching Blamey for some twenty years, and interviewed most of Blamey's senior subordinates, such as Generals Sir Frank Berryman, Sir Edmund Herring and Sir Sydney Rowell, before they died. He carried out research in Britain and the United States and visited most of Blamey's battlefields at Gallipoli and Borneo.
