I read this book when I was 12 ish and it was way more useful in terms of sex education than anything barring giving it a go myself. I too remember applying a subtle pressure to have sex that ashames and embarrasses me now but was par for the course in 1998-2005, my university years. Spoiler (very v. minor) warning from this point. 🤫 That moment as he touches her, not pushing, eventually leading to her pulling him in. To his immature mind he naïvely assumes this was him giving her control & (I have been where the boy friend was and remember feeling smug &# self satisfied because I had let her make the final move) we completely ignored the fact this momentry passing of the lead was at a point where the seduction was well and truly underway. Like the boyfriend in the book I was just a little bit older/ more experienced & should have known better. I didn't know for nearly a year that had been her virginity & nearly two years that she regretted having let herself be seduced. 💔😔
