Some Information Scant, But Good Tips I love it when an author shares a very niched idea that they have personal expertise in. You can tell this author has a lot of experience in finance just from the writing, and indeed, he relates an extensive history in the field in different companies and even on different continents as well as helping others break in. He specifically covers the importance of networking (even starting in college), types of jobs in finance, your resume/CV, the all-important job interview, the job offer (and how to negotiate your salary) as well as looking at specific internships concepts. He also gives some tips on what to do in that first job. His writing style is friendly and easy, which I always like to see in nonfiction books. The one problem with this book is that he glosses over some important aspects of getting that job or internship, like the resume or CV cover letter. He gives us a scant paragraph with little information. Other topics are given short shrift as well. In general, though, this will get you started thinking about what you need to do in order to get your first or even second job in finance. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
