Meticulously researched, poignantly written analysis of how the erosion of our institutions and the rise of extremism paved the way for Donald Trump and our slide into autocracy. Should be read by everyone. You'll think the author is a liberal partisan wack job at first, but the documented facts and evidence that she amassed will quickly erode that first impression. In the end you'll be forced to deal with the evidence itself and decide whether or not you will engage in resistance to the forces of anti-democratic authoritarianism and kleptocracy.

Sarah does an amazing job of connecting the puzzle pieces of a story that has literally torn our Country apart. If you want to gaze at the rancid underbelly of Trump's history of criminal behavior, read this book.

Sarah Kendzior is best known for her reporting on St. Louis and the 2016 election, her academic research on authoritarian states, and her New York Times bestselling debut The View from Flyover Country. She is a co-host of the podcast Gaslit Nation and was named one of Foreign Policy's “100 people you should be following on Twitter to make sense of global events.” Her reporting has been featured in Politico, The Atlantic, Fast Company, The New York Times, Globe and Mail, and more.
