David Raker is asked to find who disappeared in the middle of a lake right months before. A riveting read full of twists and turns and a lot of threads that Tim Weaver expertly weaves to a satisfying conclusion. I could not put this book down, a exceptional read. Thanks to Penguin books and Netgalley for this review copy.

Good, twisty story but too many silly, dramatic incidents e.g. rescue from a burning g vehicle cliche.

a complex over complicated story in many ways..but the one way that didnt suffer was the quality of the writing and the tone. The author creates a feeling of intimacy with the reader as his characters tell their stories and the lines that pull them all together are revealed and the emotional ambiguity feels authentic.

Tim Weaver is the Sunday Times bestselling author of fifteen novels, including No One Home, The Blackbird and The Last Goodbye, and a short story collection. He is also the host and producer of the chart-topping Missing podcast and is currently developing an original TV series with the team behind Line of Duty. A former journalist and magazine editor, he lives near Bath with his wife and daughter.
