This novel dramatizes Thomas Wolsey’s rise and fall. As King Henry VIII’s top advisor, Wolsey’s failure to secure an annulment for the king’s first marriage—and the subsequent accusations of treason—reveal the cost of his pursuit of power. Based on historical accounts, this compelling novel also imagines Wolsey’s personal life, focusing as much on that as on his career. It’s an engaging and enjoyable read. The narration by Rosalyn Landor is brilliant. Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.
