About this ebook

Geralt the Witcher races to find his missing ward, Ciri, in this fourth novel in the bestselling Witcher series that inspired the Netflix show and video games.

The world has fallen into war. Ciri, the child of prophecy, has vanished. Hunted by friends and foes alike, she has taken on the guise of a petty bandit and lives free for the first time in her life.

But the net around her is closing. Geralt, the Witcher, has assembled a group of allies determined to rescue her. Both sides of the war have sent brutal mercenaries to hunt her down. Her crimes have made her famous.

There is only one place left to run. The tower of the swallow is waiting...

Given a 5 * rating as TOTALLY B L O W N away by the ending. Without giving too much away: it was about the concept of time and space. It's that light bulb moment you get when the structure of the books are realised. It had been niggling at me from the start of watching the Netflix series. Why jump in time? It's disoriented and makes your head spin for trying to rationalize it. I felt motion sickness. Not that I give up on anything easily but this made me struggle to pick it up at times and I either haven't followed Ciri's age properly or the author has put Ciri's age to be older when he's telling us of her first sexual encounter. Has her age suddenly been lost in translation? Finishing this book has made it all worth while. I'm not sure why the date of review is totally wrong? It's 26th March 2021

About the author

Andrzej Sapkowski was born in 1948 in Poland. He studied economy and business, but the success of his fantasy cycle about the Witcher Geralt of Rivia turned him into a bestselling writer and he is now one of Poland's most famous and successful authors, selling more in his own country than Stephen King or Michael Crichton.
