What an Amazing book. Also one of my favourites. I chose to seek this book out and read it due to the praise it was Given by William Burroughs. Apparently this was the book that gave him the inspiration to write Junky. I find for a man who never wrote a book in his life before or since he did a commendable job writing it in such a way that it keeps you interested and hanging on to each word. Also very descriptive and entertaining for strong and not so strong readers alike. When he describes holding his breath as he puts his hand under the pillow of his sleeping victim to look for his money stash it caused me to hold my breath as well! As if I could possibly wake him up and get old Jack busted. I found the chapters that discuss his expierences with the Chinese people in China town in Vancouver particularly interesting. More than likely because I'm currently a resident of Vancouvers china town. Whether your a shit or a Johnson this book is a must read
