About the author

Veteran outdoor author William Forgey, M.D. is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Indiana University and a Professeur Associé, Sciences de la santé, Universite d’etat d’Haȉti.

He is a member of the board of trustees of the International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers, a fellow of the Explorers Club, and a past president of the Wilderness Medical Society. He spends his time during the year practicing medicine in northern Indiana or volunteering in Haiti.

He is the author of many wilderness medicine and camping books, including The Prepper’s Medical Handbook (Lyons Press) and Wilderness Medicine, 7th Edition (Falcon). He lives in Crown Point, Indiana.
