The Gunsmith has rescued the very grateful—and very insatiable—Lynn McKay from the grips of her no-good suitor, Mark Rowlett. Making the most of this encounter, Clint gladly gets to know firsthand what all the fuss over Lynn is about, and escorts her partway to the Gold Coast to prolong their acquaintance.
They stop over at a friend's farm to enjoy some much needed R & R—but it doesn't last long. Clint discovers the farmer's eye-popping stash of gold hidden in the barn. But he's not the only one. Rowlett, who's followed them through Kansas, has also caught wind of the small fortune and has his sights set on a greater treasure than Lynn. J.R. Roberts (Robert J. Randisi) is an American author who writes in the Detective and Western genres. He has authored more than 500 published books and has edited more than 30 anthologies of short stories. Booklist magazine said he "may be the last of the pulp writers."
He co-founded and edited Mystery Scene magazine and co-founded the American Crime Writers League. He founded The Private Eye Writers of America in 1981, where he created the Shamus Award.
