WOW!! I loved, loved, loved Jake and Olivia’s story in The Rock by Jennifer Bernard, the final book in her The Rockwell Legacy series. Bar owner Jake is easy going, everyone’s friend, and everyone’s rock. He also appears to be the only one still wondering about what really happened to their mother. Olivia James is a private investigator who usually only works for women. She has made an exception for Jake but insists on setting ground rules to keep him on track, in his place and her from killing him. The closer these two work together in their search and the more Rockwell family secrets they expose, the harder it is for Olivia and Jake to resist their sizzling connection. But their burning almost-romance is about to go up in flames as they uncover the final revelation that could blow Jake’s world apart; forever. I really enjoyed these characters. Jake needed someone strong enough to hold their own against him yet also let him lean on them. Olivia needed someone who could back her up but also give her space when she needs it. With all of the twists and turns the mystery takes and the dangerous situations they find themselves in, they absolutely needed to trust each other. The entire Rockwell family has been drawn closer together by the loss of their mother years ago while their father was gruff and unyielding. As each member found their significant other, they’ve been accepted & absorbed into the family as if they’ve always been there. This story was the perfect conclusion to this series & wraps everything up nicely. Ms. Bernard wrote an amazing, steamy, emotional, suspenseful and fantastic must read book. This story is filled with sexual chemistry, fun banter, and endearing characters. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING! The Rock is the 5th book in the Rockwell Legacy by one of my very favorite authors, Jennifer Bernard. This book broke my heart, gave me happy tears, had drama, injury, death, love, mystery, family… it had all the feels, and most of all…gave the series (and me) closure. The Rock is the final sibling’s story…bar owner, Jake Rockwell. He is determined to help solve the mystery of his sister Gracie’s history, and with the help of PI Olivia James it may just happen, the same Olivia who is determined to keep this situation JUST professional. This meeting with Olivia James was all about business. Nothing more, nothing less. From the start they can feel the electricity between them, but she has been on the undesirable side of a marriage before and is determined to stand her ground. They are able to dig deep and find answers, but hopefully not at the expense of someone they know. Human nature is human nature, wherever you are. Greed is greed, revenge is revenge, cruelty is cruelty. The characters are so wonderfully written and the scenery is so descriptive that you can visualize what is happening and where. All of the Rockwell family, as well as significant others (which were acquired throughout the series) are in this final book of the series. Rockwell Motto: “Laugh so you don’t cry.” Author Jennifer Bernard writes such an incredible story line that flows so perfectly! I know any time I read a book from her, I am in for something amazing…and The Rock seals the deal. This whole series is fantastic and I whole-heartedly recommend this you-won’t-be-able-to-put-it-down book and series with 5 stars! (I would give it more but it won’t let me, LOL). You definitely want to read this series from the start…but you won’t regret it!

Jake Rockwell’s past continues to haunt him. Everyone, from his family to the town, sees Jake as their Rock or glue that holds everything together. What they don’t know, including his twin, is that he’s struggling. He thinks he’s somewhat responsible for his mom’s death. Until he solves the remaining mystery surrounding her death, he can’t move forward with his life. So Jake hires Olivia James to help him finally put the past behind him. Olivia James, private investigator, specializes in cases involving women. As a divorcée, she finds it her calling to help other women knocked down by life. The only person Olivia trusts is her brother. Her family disowned her after her divorce, siding with her ex. When Jake approaches her with his case, she’s reluctant to accept. But he convinces her to accept the case, even with the caveat of him assisting her. Will their journey lead to more... I HATE that this is the final story in the series! But what a way to go! I loved Jake and Olivia’s witty banter, their love for their siblings, and their determination. I loved that a Jennifer Bernard portrayed Olivia as such a strong woman. Olivia overcomes her past as a “trophy wife” to become someone who makes a difference. I loved that even though Jake was the “rock” of the family, he had his own struggles. That’s real and relatable! I highly recommend this series to everyone! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
