Review: This book revolves around Ruth and Michael who are engaged and living in a lavish house and own all the luxury one can think of! But as Michael got unemployed, he started to show his true colors! Life is complete hell for Ruth. My opinion: Thie book started off on a good note for me and I was expecting quite a lot from this book. I felt that the book should have been more elaborative and the plot was really good but wasn't given much justice. As for now I have mixed feelings for this one. It felt that I only watched the climax scene from a whole movie. The story could have been much more elaborative if would have been started from showing the setting up of good life of Ruth and Michael and then getting slowly to the point when things got worst. In this way the impact of this book could have been more deeper. Points I liked: 1. Plot 2. Climax Suggestion: More elaboration

It's a short story of Ruth and her boyfriend Michael. Both live together. Ruth is an accomplished and successful Lawyer and Michael was an authomobile engineer. They both had a luxurious lifestyle until Michael lost his job. He is now turned into an alcoholic person who vent his frustration on Ruth in the form of domestic violence. Ruth however tries her best to be patient and hopeful. The luxurious life is now buried under countless debts. 🔷 The book is too short, can be completed under an hour. 🔷 Language is lucid and book is quite fast paced. 🔷 The starting is good and would make you keep reading the book in order to know more. 🔷 The reason why her employer keeps giving her promotion so frequently is also not so digestible. 🔷 However, there could have been more explanation about the couple's past and their love story.

Rating- 3.5 Domestic violence is a happening crime and many women just bear it but many women stand up to it and fight against it too. It is a love story but more like a story on domestic abuse in a poetic way. Story of Ruth and Michael. All is well in their life but soon Michael loses his job and due to his unemployment, things take an ugly turn in their relationship and falls into an abusive one. The author has done good work by bringing out this topic and giving this tale a poetic narration. Although I felt it was a bit lacking in narration and the story was very short there should have been more details to it. I found a bit off the railing in narration as there was slight difficulty in catching points at times. It is a good read for beginner readers as the language can be easily understood.

Praise for "The Empty Couple"

"The Empty Couple addresses the critical issue of domestic violence that women face in the household." — Amin (Sagittarian_bookaholic)

"The story ended in a great twist.. the book follows Ruth and Michael who show to everyone that they have a perfect relationship going on but well... They are not! The book was so different from the usual kind of books that I read.. some of the chapters were written in verse form but not any specific rhyming scheme. And I guess to this is why it's such a short read." — Silpi (bayofbooks)

"The author had very bravely brought out the context driving reader's attention towards domestic violence." — Komal Kumari
