I have a confession – it was only during Time that it actually clicked that Abram is Marie’s (Dating-ish) brother **DOH** The comparison between Mona and Matt especially the effect of their childhoods on their ability to process their own emotions was uncanny. Abram is intense to say the least, however, this only serves to endear him further. His commitment and belief in his relationship with Mona were a thing of envy. His solid presence and unwavering belief allowed Mona the stability she desperately required in order to be able to thrive. Mona has held a special place in my heart from the beginning of the Laws of Physics; being able to follow her character development and the strength of the relationships she has always craved made me feel like a proud parent. As a parent, you want nothing more than your child to be happy and lead a full life. With Abram, Mona is able to work through her issues and grow into the wonderful woman she so carefully kept hidden for so long. With each new book my love for Penny Reid only grows – if you think you don’t like romance as it’s a fluffy read I dare you to read a book by Penny and tell me you haven’t gained knowledge through it 😍💖

TIME is the third and final instalment in Penny Reid’s contemporary, adult LAWS OF PHYSICS romance trilogy focusing on twenty-one year old physics genius Mona Tang DaVinci, and twenty-five year old musician Abram Harris Fletcher. LAWS OF PHYSICS is the second trilogy in the author’s HYPOTHESIS series but can be read as a stand alone series without any difficulty. Abram was first introduced in the Elements of Chemistry series (a subset of the Hypothesis series). NOTE: TIME should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book two SPACE. If you have not read MOTION or SPACE, there may be some spoilers in my review. Told from dual first person perspectives (Mona and Abram) TIME focuses on the building relationship and struggle between twenty-one year old physics genius Mona Tang DaVinci, and twenty-five year old musician Abram Harris Fletcher. Abram’s band Redburn is about to go on tour forcing another separation between our leading couple when Mona accepts a research position at the CERN in Switzerland. Nights apart mean texting and emails are their preferred form of contact, contact that is interrupted by illness, surprise visits and broken hearts. As Abram battles his loneliness without he woman he loves, Mona must contend with the fall-out and forgiveness between her siblings and herself. TIME: LAWS OF PHYSICS is a character driven story about a young woman struggling to discover who she is and what she wants. Emotionally battered and scarred, Mona DaVinci will come to terms with her past, her family, and the man with whom she has fallen in love. From secret and lies, forgiveness and understanding, to setting the stage for what is and what will be, the LAWS OF PHYSICS trilogy is an emotional, realistic and moving story of love and the heart.

4.5 stars — I think Laws of Physics might be my favourite Penny Reid series. There’s just something about Mona and Abram that got to me, that pulled out ALL my feels, that had my laughing and laughing, and just clamouring for MORE MORE MORE. Honestly, the only reason this isn’t a full 5 stars is because the ending caught me off guard…not in the sense that it was crazy, but in the sense of “oh, we’re at the epilogue?” I was happy that the epilogue tied up a lot of things, but there was still a feeling of wanting a bit more on a few things (therapist stuff, Mona and her family). Before I continue, if you haven’t read the first 2 books, then know that this review is going to be spoilery…turn back now, while you still can. Mona was her quirky delightful self. The way her brain worked fascinated me. I will admit that she frustrated me on occasion, but in all those parts I also understood her reactions, and I appreciated that it showed me a realistic character dealing with life. That’s the thing…sure, we’d like to believe we’d do all the right things, and think all the right things, but human beings are way more irrational than that. I can honestly say that I loved the way Ms. Reid showcased Mona dealing with the assault from her teenaged years. I found that she poked her fingers in so many little assumptions, and she gave us a view of how trauma can affect us in strange and unpredictable ways. I also really loved that she drew some connections to Abram and the life of a celebrity. But back to Mona for a second. I connected with her on so many levels, even though for the most part we don’t have a lot of surface stuff in common. But she was kind, and thoughtful (and yes, an overthinker), and she cared a LOT about the people she loved. Abram went through so many ups and downs in this series, but again, I connected with him through each stage. I ADORED his tender heart, his sexy poetic words, his genuine caring. I felt his loneliness, his frustration, his quick temper. I appreciated a view of a rock star who really just wants the music part, but not the rest of life as a celebrity. My heart ached for him. The descriptions of his adrenaline high were so real…and I totally got how he hated that feeling… I don’t know…I just loved him. The two of them together were romance gold for me. I LOVED the way they loved one another. I loved how I could feel their chemistry on soooooo many levels. I loved how delighted they were about the fundamentals of the other. I loved that the struggles from a long distance relationship felt so real. I loved Mona’s lack of understanding what being in a relationship was like. I loved that while they had moments of doubt, inside they were both in it 100%. Honestly, I loved this book so much more than my words can convey. I didn’t want to put it down, and I can totally see myself rereading it. It gave me that tummy hurt that you get when you’re just so invested in a couple, and in them each as individuals as well. I love that tummy hurt. And thus I die.
