It's been a minute since I've read a book by Shayla Black, but I jumped right in to WICKED AS SEDUCTION: TREES & LAILA PART 1 without realizing that theirs is a story that has been building as part of the backstory in prior books in the Wicked & Devoted series. Even so, I had no trouble reading this solely as the first part of their complicated, steamy, thrill-packed story, and can't wait to see what's next. It was nice to see such a spitfire of a heroine in Laila, one that kept Trees on his toes and then some. I'm really hoping that Part Two of their story continues in the same vein, because it really did add something. I mean, it's nice to have a (sometimes) gentle giant around to save the day, but where's the fun if there's no spark? If romantic suspense with an, ahem, dominant side is your bag, this is definitely the book for you. I would suggest starting with the first books and working your way through, but, as said, if you just want Laila and Trees, this book can be read as a standalone, and as the first part of a two-book package. Shayla seals the deal with a cliffy that will definitely have you (and me!) coming back for more, and Part 2 can't get here quickly enough. ❤️

Wicked as Seduction by Shayla Black is book 5 in Wicked & Devoted series and Part 1 of Trees & Laila story. Trees has been been given the task with keeping Laila safe while the men of E.M. Security try to figure out who the person is that is leaking info on her safe house(s) which has her, her sister and her nephew with her. The Cartel want her dead and they don't play games. Trees is determined to do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening. Laila's story is one of a woman who has gone thru something pretty horrible yet we are able to get read the strength and will that shine through. Trees is able to get through the defenses that Laila has built up ... great to read then that cliffhanger ..Can’t wait for part 2!! Overall an amazing story. My Rating: 4.5 stars ******

Trees and Laila story starts off with a bang and keeps moving until it leaves me wanting more. Even though Laila is in danger and has gone through a lot, I love that she still has fire and can be seen when she stands up to Trees. He didn't stand a chance of not falling for her. Now I can't wait for their conclusion.
