I’m 15, and I’m not an avid reader by far. The author of this book is my own sister and I read this after it got officially published. Where no one expected me to read it (as I don't like to invest my time in reading a book, fairly I would rather watch a movie) but I was eager to read it as the name itself was quite relatable. But as I turned the pages I read things which I as a teenager can feel in my environment but may not be able to express . ‘Candid- A teen’s life: unfiltered’ takes you to a journey where you listen to your own story from someone else’s writings. It feels like you are being given advices and life lessons by your very own elder sibling who’s been through her troubles and bubbles. The title in itself gives you the idea, that the story, the facts, the problems, and lessons come from a very raw and uncooked life journey which in itself is a very special part. Being a teenager in this era is in itself a whole journey, and this book enables us ‘teens’ to look at life from a new perspective. I personally discovered a whole lot of diverse views that i didn’t ever consider, since forever. With the perfect amount of humour, it gives you advices: some that are hit right in-the-face whereas some that give you direction in the most polite ways. I would recommend every other pre-teen, teen, and also the adults to give this little unfiltered version a read so that you know what it actually means when you say teenage years are no less than a ‘rollercoaster ride’. As a reader of this book, I’m impressed the way a 17yo first time author’s book has turned out to be. Worth reading.

The book is so relevant to the present scenario. At the age of 17 she wrote ‘Candid - a teen's life: unfiltered’ which takes you to the journey of teenage years, the issues, problems and the thought process of the young adults. And if you are an adult it will help you to understand them better. In a few chapters it made me remember of my teenage issues and it felt so relevant because it is coming from someone who’s still into her teenage years. As an adult and educator it is of my foremost concern to listen to their part and try to see things from their lense. This books helps you in this process too. It shares the experience of teenagers and also motivates us or I can say guides everyone to understand themselves. The most interesting part of the book is questionnaire the author leaves with you in the end of every chapter which makes the book more interactive . It's a book which shares the stories and instances with the hidden lessons and motivates you to be the better version of yourself. This book is for all the teens as friends and adults to give the outlook about teenagers. So if in case you are surrounded with any or you are a teen yourself you know what it is that the ‘teen tribe’ is going through. And if you are an adult, then just enjoy the reading and remember your good/ not so good old days. That questionnaire section is for everyone. So give it a shot, it's worth reading.

Such an honest expression by a teenager. Kudos to the author . She has tried to give you an insight into the life of a teenager in just perfect words and with such real experiences and incidences . While reading the book I just felt as if I’m sailing through the same age . As a parent I could visualise the thought process of a teenager, what role does parent and peers play in their lives. The teenager (sometimes not taken that seriously ) can do wonders if given the space and trust and an environment to communicate their desires and capabilities . If you are reading as a parent you can jot down when the child needs you. If you are reading as a teenager I bet some of you can correlate to Mandy and other characters so closely that you can find them in near vicinity . The influence of social media and the direction in which explosion of information can take you. You need to keep a check on it. Wonderful work, loved reading .
