Ruthless King

Even after reading many books by Meghan March, she still has the ability to amaze me with every single book. Every story is unique and so good. The books are hot and (a little) suspenseful. The men are always an alpha male and the women are always sassy and independent. I was sad that the Beneath series was over, but I couldn’t wait to know more about the darker, grittier side of New Orleans. Keira is the owner of the company that has been in the hands of her family for generations. The company is getting better and she has big plans with it. Keira is determined, passionate, sassy and loving. She has so much fire in her. She’s not someone you can mess with. She might not like Mount very much, but there is definitely some attraction between them. I can definitely see them falling in love and becoming a couple. Things already get really hot between them. Lachlan Mount is a ruthless king. He’s King of the New Orleans’s underground. He’s a legend. He’s someone nobody wants to meet, because it means you’re in trouble. Mount is a man who knows what he wants and he always gets it. He now wants Keira, but Keira challenges Mount like nobody has done before and he isn’t sure whether he likes it or not. Mount is dangerous, cold, protective, possessive, closed off and mysterious. There are only a few chapters told from Mount’s point of view and this only added to the mystery. I was glad to read his thoughts sometimes and I can’t wait to know him better. This book is a fantastic start of the Mount trilogy! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I got to know Keira really good at first, before Mount pretty much takes over her life. There happened some big things in the last few chapters that made my jaw drop. The cliffhanger was also very shocking and it makes me need Defiant Queen now! I’ll be not-so-patiently counting down the days until I get my hands on that book.
