Roman Gibel promovierte 2019 an der Universität Luzern und lehrt und forscht im Bereich der Organisations- und Wirtschaftssoziologie. Seine Forschungsinteressen sind Organisationsnetzwerke, Nonprofit-Organisationen und Transparenz als gesellschaftlicher Wert.
