The kidnapping of two young girls is not what it seems. On the surface it looked like an attempt to ransom the daughter of the imprisoned wife of a Russian oligarch – but then why was Abigail, apprentice wizard to Peter Grant, also taken? And why, after also kidnapping his vixen and cub, were the moneyed miscreants using Dan Russell – one of London’s more unusual talking foxes – as bait?
Abigail, apparently poor prey material, has now been joined in captivity by another kidnapped associate of The Folly – Detective Sergeant Guleed, who is apparently considered much greater sport.
Now Peter and his boss are going to have to leave the confines of London to take their chances in the green and unpleasant countryside, to track the kidnappers down…
