For this reason, Inguscio’s analysis sheds a light on the study of conflict and violence in medieval Europe” and does so without assuming “a de-contextualised theory.” Because the monograph embraces context and does not hinge on previously accepted theory, Ferragina writes, “the interest in Agostino Inguscio’s account of civil conflict in medieval Genoa goes beyond the study of a medieval town in the 11th and 12th century.”

Agostino Inguscio is Lecturer in Economic History in the Department of Historical Studies of the University of Cape Town (SA). Inguscio earned his BA in History from the University of Florence (2006), as well as a Master's of Science (2008) and DPhil (2013) in Economic History from the University of Oxford.
