Fourth Wing wasn't particularly well written, but at least it was fun. This book I DNF-ed halfway through cause it was such a slog fest. So little happened. Besides that Violet getting called smart, while she can't figure out basic stuff and doesn't think to ask basic questions, is just peek annoying.

It's not as good as the first book, which I devoured in 3 days. Iron flame, for me, was too repetitive in many ways. note that I'm not an avid reader nor is english my first language. but felt the writing was copy pasted many times. a lot of the same scenarios, and I felt like I could've skipped sections. but nevertheless, I'm still excited for the next book. 🤪

This book had a lot to live up to after Fourth Wing, and I think it knocked it out of the park. I have a similar condition to Violet, and seeing it represented in a way that shows our strengths through weakness is beautiful. Yes some parts of the book are predictable, but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same and can't wait for Onyx Storm. Get your hankies out for end though 😭
