Pushpa Jagtap (1940-2024) was born in a big marathi joint family. The family was protective but not conservative and allowed girls to get educated. Author took complete formal education in marathi, but surprisingly was fluent in Hindi and English also. Author’s family ware evacuees of a Dam project, in lieu of which they had received agriculture lands and a big chunk of land in city area. The relocation to city opened many oppurtunities. The family members indulged in agriculture, trading, brokerage, moneylending & other services.Some in family were Doctors and lawyers also. Author’s father was a feedom fighter and had to go to jail many times during feedom struggle, he passed away at young age. Author’s mother was a homemaker and managed to keep flock together. At coming of age Author married an engineer who later on became a successful contractor. Soon after marriage author and her husband came to Delhi and settled there. In 1985 author’s family moved into Anandvan Society. The congenial residents and atmosphere of this society awakened the poet in her. She penned her thoughts and also made instant poems when friends requested her with any subjects of their choice .Her poems glorified womanhood, family and religion. Gradually her poems were appreciated awarded and published in magazines,souveneirs, kavi sammelans. Author is fondly remembered as a humble & genial person by one and all.
