Sir John Mortimer was a barrister, playwright and novelist. John Mortimer was a novelist, playwright and barrister. He was knighted for his services to the arts in 1998, and died in 2009.
The Rapstone Trilogy - consisting of Paradise Postponed, Titmuss Regained and The Sound of Trumpets - captured the Thatcher years perfectly with its enthralling tale of the rise of Tory MP Leslie Titmuss.
