Set in south west Scotland during the period 1679-89, it explores the political and religious climate of the time through the eyes of Henry Morton. Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) was a seminal Scottish playwright, poet, and historical novelist whose novels were and remain to be widely read and enjoyed the world over.
