Пра гэту электронную кнігу

From the author of "The Blue Lagoon" comes an entertaining set of stories about life in the South Pacific. "I met Billy Harman on Circular Wharf, Sydney, so many years ago that I think he must be dead. He is the chief person in the first six stories of this book, which have appeared illustrated in an English, an American and a Canadian magazine, in all of which the illustrator depicted Billy as a young, rather good-looking man. That he was not. Billy, when I met him, was well over forty, big and scrubby-bearded, a shell-back with a touch of the Longshoreman, blue far-seeing eyes, the eyes of a child-and an innocence none the less delightful because streaked with guile. Only the sea could have produced Billy, and the Islands and the Beaches and the life which the Pacific makes possible for an Ocean Tramp." -Henry De Vere Stacpoole.

Звесткі пра аўтара

Henry de Vere Stacpoole (9 April 1863 – 12 April 1951) was an Irish-British author, born in Ireland in Kingstown (now Dún Laoghaire). His best-known work is the 1908 romance novel The Blue Lagoon, which has been adapted into multiple films. He published using his own name and sometimes the pseudonym Tyler de Saix. After a brief career as a ship's doctor, which took him to numerous exotic locations in the South Pacific Ocean, later used in his fiction, he became a full-time writer, able to live comfortably after the success of The Blue Lagoon. He lived in the Essex countryside in England, before relocating to the Isle of Wight in the 1920s, where he remained until his death. He was buried at St Boniface Church, Bonchurch, on the Isle of Wight in 1951.
