Nahnidatta or Lahnidatta was a great scholar of astrology from Mithila. He flourished in early 14th century. His only work Nahnidatta-panchvimshatika became very famous in all over Northern India as to its many manuscripts found in Rajasthan, Gujarat, U.P. and other places. This book containing 25 verses deals with the auspicious dates and Muhurtas (time) for various Hindu ceremonies like Upanayan, Vivaha (marriage ceremony) &etc. Its commentary by M.M. Ruchipati (15th century) of Khauala-family from Mithila is being published here for the first time from its manuscript by Bhavanath Jha.
