I read this book for the first time in 1996. I took it seriously and it changed my life. I worked out regularly and after the initial transition to ketosis I stayed on a low carb diet for several more years. I was in the best shape of my life. After several years I gradually added carbs back into my life and stayed perfectly fit for a decade. I have realized that my weight, energy, and overall mental sharpness were sliding, so I started back up from the beginning with my old copy of Protein Power with the white cover. After three weeks I've lost 10 pounds, my cholesterol levels are perfect, and my blood pressure has dropped from 130/95 to 110 /80. The first week and a half are always the hardest and if you cheat during that time you need to start over at 10-20g carbs/day, but once your body's ketosis gets going you can increase just enough to enjoy some sweet things in moderation. Anyone who tells you this is "dangerous" is the dangerous one.

This book thoroughly debunks the sugar-industry supported trope that the fat you eat automatically turns into body fat and cholesterol.

I felt like a new person not bogged down by medical issues and lack of energy just a few chapters in. Thank you!
