Offensichtlich wurde er in seinem Büro in der Filmstadt vor den Toren Münchens im Nobelvorort Grünwald ermordet. Die Spur führt zunächst in die Kreise der oft neidischen und emotional aufgeladenen Filmbranche, aber auch nach München hinein. Als dann auch noch Max‘ langjährige Lebensgefährtin entführt wird, gerät der Exkommissar unter Druck.
