Absolute beast of a book! Michael Crichton gives us a literary gift with this one. It is a page turner and the characters are both likable and easily despised. There are few differences from the movie, but I believe it makes the book better. The progression is smooth and the imagination goes wild. A very easy read and my first MC book... I'm hooked. I have ordered most all of MC's books and I'll be leaving more reviews on those later. Don't sleep on this book, it rewards the reader. Love the ambiguous ending as well... The Lost World! "Let's be clear. The planet is not in jeopardy. We are in jeopardy. We haven't got the power to destroy the planet - or to save it. But we might have the power to save ourselves." -Malcolm.

I don't know why, sometimes, I have to learn the same lesson over and over - but, here I am again, noting that it never ceases to amaze me how movies completely ruin storylines (and, in general, I like the Jurassic Park movie series). However, this is another example of a book with an engaging storyline, interesting characters (although one of them is nothing short of annoying - I'll let you decide which one), and a worthwhile read. This is one of the books we read (and re-read at our kid's request) with our kids. And, for any fans of the movie, you'll quickly note how this story (and it's ending) completely negates a key storyline of the Jurassic Park movie series. Either way, I think this book is worth a read.

I enjoyed this. While the movie showed that Jurassic park is a dangerous idea due to massive creatures, the book really goes into detail about how corporate greed, neglect, and trying to manipulate nature and life itself is a recipe for disaster. Most of the excitement happens about 2/3 a way into the book. It's less adventure and more so a criticism of the dangers of science without the ethical and moral restraints. Also, a lot more violent than the movie. Me likey
