About this ebook

He thought he knew madness... until he met her.

Pierce Langdon, Viscount Westfall is mad. Everyone knows it. He fell from a tree when he was a boy and woke to hear strange voices. When the voices grow stronger as he grows older, his family commits him to Bedlam. But what he hears are the thoughts of those around him-a gift to be used in service to the Order of the M.U.S.E. Until he falls again...this time for a totally unsuitable woman.

Lady Nora Claremont hides her heartbreak behind the facade of a carefree courtesan. Viscount Westfall is the most confusing man she's ever met. He seems to know exactly what she wants...and what she's thinking.

Which is a dangerous thing, because what Nora wants is Pierce. And what she's thinking could expose her as a traitor to the crown...

The Order of the M.U.S.E. series is best enjoyed in order.

Exquisitely written and full of surprises, THE MADNESS OF LORD WESTFALL is a treat for fans of historical romance! The Metaphysical Union of Sensory Extraordinaires, MUSE, is an organisation whose mission is to protect the English crown from psychic weapons. Pierce Langdon, Viscount Westfall who reads minds, is part of MUSE, and at a soirée he sees the most beautiful creature he has ever laid his eyes on: Lady Nora Claremont. Nora, or La Nora as she is commonly known, is a courtesan. Regardless of her profession, Pierce is irrevocably smitten; he has been asked by his superiors to use Nora to complete his latest mission, he intends to get to know her better. Nora, at first, is amused but once she gets to know Pierce, she discovers she is not as blasé about love as she once thought… THE MADNESS OF LORD WESTFALL’s basic idea is quite ingenious as the psychic elements as well as the mystery are cleverly woven in this story where an unlikely pair of social misfits finds love as well. Pierce and Nora are extremely well-rounded characters, and if at first they appear polar opposites, they share somewhat similar stories. Mia Marlowe’s prose is absolutely flawless, the dialogues perfectly in tune to the era’s language, and Ms. Marlowe’s descriptions are so eloquent, I could easily picture the world of Pierce and Nora. The author’s attention to historical detail is simply stunning without ever being overwhelming; and she makes the dread and horror of Bedlam come to life. I particularly enjoyed the fact that nothing is ever black or white; shades of grey prevail, as in real life. The romance that eventually blooms between Nora and Pierce feels genuine, their chemistry is real, and their first kiss is absolutely breathtaking. However their road to romance is fraught with ambushes as Pierce must thwart a plot against the crown. THE MADNESS OF LORD WESTFALL is a splendid read! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
