Martin Luthers "Passional" von 1529 ist das erste wirkliche Biblische Geschichten-Buch der Reformationszeit. Es erschien erstmals im Rahmen von Luthers "Betbüchlein" (1529) als Bilderbibel "umb der kinder und einfeltigen willen", welche durch "bildnis und gleichnis besser bewegt werden, die Güttlichen geschicht zu behalten" (Vorwort). Es umfasst 50 ganzseitige Holzschnitte und die entsprechenden Texte im biblischen Wortlaut.
Die 500-Jahrfeier der Reformation ist Anlass, durch diesen Reprint das Kleinod "Passional" einer grüßeren Öffentlichkeit bekannt zu machen.
