The premise of the story is fine but getting to the end of the book was sheer drudgery and very unbelievable. we are supposed to believe a trained medical doctor is unaware of pregnancy symptoms and then ectopic pregnancy symptoms. Then the last half of the book drones on and on detailing trips across town and back then trips through parking garages and floors of hospitals then more trips between hospitals. I could barely flip through the pages fast enough to keep from falling asleep. this was my first robin cook novel, probably my last

I like this author's style of writing. It reminds me of Michael Crichton's writing, in that it is straightforward, but includes much detail so that the reader feels as though he is being invited into the world of the story. On a personal note, although I do not personally support a single-payer healthcare model, he makes the most compelling argument for one I've heard to date.
