Eine gestohlene Whiskyflasche, eine Leiche und ein dunkles Geheimnis. Der Edinburgher Jazzband »Dalmore Jazz" wurde ihr Glücksbringer gestohlen, eine alte Flasche Dalmore-Whisky. Der Verdacht fällt auf Kyle Saunders, ein besessener Fan aus Amerika. Da die Polizei ihm nichts beweisen kann, engagiert die Band die Privatermittlerin Rowan Lockhart, um die Flasche zu finden. Kurz darauf wird Kyle Saunders ermordet. Rowan, die längst festgestellt hat, dass die ganze Band etwas verbirgt, gräbt tiefer in deren Vergangenheit und kommt damit jemandem in die Quere, der unter allen Umständen verhindern muss, dass sein Geheimnis entdeckt wird.
