Growing up alongside her indulged cousins, the Bertrams, she lives in the shadows of their glamorous lives, but finds an ally in her kind cousin, Edmund. When the questionable Crawfords come to visit, the house and its occupants are suddenly thrown into disarray. Romance begins to flourish, forcing Fanny to finally confront the extent of her true feelings for Edmund.

Considered Austen’s most complex novel, the timid and moral character of Fanny Price has inspired more debate among modern readers than any of Austen’s other female protagonists.
