Act of Submission, by Mandy Roth is the third in the PSI-Ops part of her Immortal Ops world. This installment lets us meet Miles Boomer Walsh. As with all the other PSI Ops, he has a very disturbing past that has left him emotionally scarred. The one person he is closest to is Corbin and that is mainly because he feels that even though Corbin blames himself for all Boomers problems, Boomer sees Corbin as his savior. In enters Haven Carey, an aspiring veterinarian who has made it her, mission to kill Boomer because she believes that Boomer killed her twin brother. Even though this book all takes place in one location, Boomer’s animal sanctuary, it does have a lot of action, suspense and drama. Ms. Roth has of course included her usual comedy and lighthearted banter between not only the shifters, but the Fang Gang. My favorite character since his introduction continues to be Little Duke. In my opinion steals the scene anytime he is included. This is a great addition to the series

This is the first story in the "Immortal Ops: PSI-Ops" I have read. I loved it! It is a stand alone paranormal read with some connected characters. I really love the creativity this author shows in her story. It has a blend of shifter, vampire and more. I love the witty dialogue between the characters, especially the PSI-Ops team of brothers. Boomer/Miles and Haven are so perfect for each other. Boomer also known as Miles has had a rough upbringing. Now he care for other wounded and abused animals at his animal rehabilitation facility. Because of the abuse he received in his past he cannot stand to be touched and hates vampires even more. Haven knows not what she is but is on a mission to kill the person responsible for her twin brothers death. Boomer and some of his brothers in arms are getting together for a poker night at the rehab facility when they are attacked by Haven. The attraction between Haven and Miles is instant and unstoppable. There are a few grammatical errors in this story but it did not detract from the story. I picked up this one and could not put it down. I was glued and flipping pages. The story has fated mates finding each other, passion, suspense, murder, danger, action and great twists and turns. I cannot wait to go read the other stories in the series.

A smidge more info yay. This series integrates, like, 3-4 series. Shifters, vampires, fae all kind of working together while hiding their inhumanity. It's fun to see the characters popping over from their dedicated series! And the friendly rivalry when the Fang Gang visits is so much fun. Another good thing was the male MC, whose quirks made him stand out from most of the other male leads. I wish they'd played more with his masochism, but the female lead seemed to accept it more as the result of trauma and self-hate than a personal kink. Eh. I gave extra stars anyway for all the animal shenanigans! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
