About this ebook

Nobel Prize, the highest Civilian Award in the world, has been awarded every year, since 1901, for the outstanding achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and peace. The Nobel Prize is an international award, administered by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden, in memory of Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Prize. Each prize consists of a medal, personal diploma, and a cash award. The Nobel prizes are awarded in accordance with the Last Will signed by Alfred Nobel on November 27, 1895, in Paris. Nobel Lalana Part 2 consists of biographies of the Female Nobel Laureates from the year 2001 onwards. Earlier Female Nobel Laureates from 1901 to 2000 AD are covered in Nobel Lalana Part 1. In the new millennium, the number of Female Nobel Laureates has increased considerably. In this period, 14 out of the 130 (About 10.77%) Nobel Prizes have been won by the women. This percentage is more than double than the percentage of the Nobel Prizes won by the Female Nobel Laureates in the last century and many records have been broken by them. For example three women were awarded the Nobel Prizes in the year 2004. Further, five women were awarded the Nobel Prizes in the year 2009. Amongst them Elinor Ostron from America became the first female prize winner in Economics. Three women were awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in the year 2011. In this period women from countries like Kenya, Iran, Israel, Liberiya and Yemen have won the Nobel Prizes, as compared to women mainly from America and Europe winning the Nobel Prizes in the earlier period. This book attempts to unravel the reasons behind these changes brought about in the new millennium and seeks to unfold transformation of the traditional woman into a modern woman, through the relevant socio-political, cultural and historical changes. Nobel Lalana is the first book available in any language, giving consolidated details of the work done by each of these Nobel Women. Not many know about these women, the difficulties they faced and the immense contributions they made to the humanity. Common knowledge about these Nobel Winners normally does not go beyond a few like Marie Curie, Irene Curie, Pearl Buck and Mother Teresa. This book is the First attempt to bridge the wide gap. A sincere attempt has been made to unearth the hidden treasures in the lives of these Nobel Women and unfold the intricacies of their struggles. While studying their life sketches through numerous national and international references; I was totally engrossed and overwhelmingly impressed by these great women of substance. There upon, I felt a very strong need to bring out these adoring, sore and sweet memories, hitherto unknown to the readers and the discerning connoisseurs. I have made an honest attempt, in this book, to capture and bring out the great work done by these Nobel Women for the people. The real success of the book is when at least a few, would be inspired to do something Noble, for the betterment of mankind. Nobel Lalana Part 2 will be updated as more and more women will win the Nobel Prizes in the years to come.
