Following Lyotard's death in 1998, this book provides an exploration of the recurrent theme of education in his work. It brings to a wider audience the significance of a body of thought about education that is subtle, profound and still largely unexplored. This book also makes an important contribution to contemporary debates on postmoderism and education.

Pradeep A. Dhillon is Assistant Professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. In addition to her book, Multiple Identities, her articles have appeared in journals of philosophy and the philosophy of education.,
Paul Standish is a lecturer in the philosophy of education at the University of Dundee. His books include Beyond the Self: Wittgenstein, Heidegger and the Limits of Language, and Thinking Again: Education after Postmodernism, which he co-authored.
